Our walks are short and over easy terrain, and are open to everyone but are especially aimed at those who are least active.
Our Walks leave at 10am from the Civic Centre.
On 2nd and 4th Wednesday there is a short walk around the town, lasting up to an hour, followed by a coffee and cake in a local pub.
On 1st and 3rd Wednesday there is a longer walk, lasting up to 1.5 hours, going out of town, followed a by a drink in a local cafe.
Please note that although we love dogs, only assistance dogs are encouraged to walk with us.Our group walks are led by friendly, specially trained volunteers who are on hand to provide encouragement and support, and make sure no one gets left behind.

Walking for Health in Whitchurch

Whitchurch Walking for Health scheme was launched way back in July 2004. The “Walking for Health” initiative aims to get more people walking in their own communities and has been described by health experts as “almost perfect exercise”.

A programme of regular 45min walks on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month and longer walks of 1.5hrs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Walking in a group is a great way to start walking and to stay motivated. You’ll make friends and discover new places to walk in your neighbourhood as well as improving your health and fitness. All walks are risk assessed and lead by trained volunteer walk leaders. Walks are free and all you will need is a comfortable pair of shoes. You will be asked to complete a short Health Questionnaire. No need to book – just turn up.
